Tummy Tuck in Broward County
Dr. F. Leigh Phillips, III, MD, PA, FACS performs tummy tuck procedures for Broward County residents.
What Is a Tummy Tuck?
Tummy tucks help patients who are unhappy with their sagging stomachs due to excess abdominal fat or loose skin. The procedure removes the excess fat or loose skin to create a flatter abdominal region. Also referred to as abdominoplasty, this procedure tightens the abdominal wall muscles for a more toned appearance. If the excess fat or loose skin is located below the belly button, patients may receive a partial tummy tuck rather than a complete tummy tuck.
How Is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
A complete tummy tuck starts with opening the abdomen from one hipbone to the other. This gives access to the excess skin and fat deposits so that Dr. Phillips can safely remove the excess. Once the excess fat or skin is removed, drainage tubes may remain under the skin for a few days. A partial tummy tuck occurs below the belly button, but the same procedure is followed.
